where in the world should i be

coming very close to decision time on what i’m doing next. lease is up soon and job is done in a cpl months. my roomate is moving to nyc this summer and were now looking at options to exit our lease asap. just like every year, i have no idea what i want to do living wise.

i’ve lived in az all my life, dont get me wrong i absolutely LOVE it here and have no real reason to move. ive always had the urge to move. i’m caught somewhere in the middle of feeling like i have to try something new and also liking my current situation.

i have no idea what to do. im terrible at my own decisions.

options

  • phoenix (do nothing scenario) - rent where i live now (awesomeness) or buy a place (most likely scenario)
  • san francisco - best friend moves there this summer and would live with him in the city. expensive as all get out, but would prob be one of the best places for me. active, techie, artsy, friends there. i dig the whole san fran city.
  • boston - intelligent city with a great culture around it. ive always loved MIT and would love to be around that type of atmosphere. have a few work friends here. not really into the cold weather, but could deal with it. not too expensive either.
  • chicago - dont really have a reason to move here, except i do dig the city life. bitter cold weather might be a deal breaker. plus ive already seen most of whats to see in chi-town. friends there…
  • charlotte - obvious choice. this makes the most sense. companies based there. cheap to live. up and coming city. one of the better chances i would have to progress myself through work. likely my travel would be less. active city, shitty sports teams, laid back. closest thing to phoenix on the east coast.
  • los angelas - i absolutely love l.a. pop culture, however l.a. wouldnt be the best place to live. traffic sucks. polution. hella expensive. very likely i could find a project thats based in simi valley, so travel could be less.
  • san diego - scottsdale west. outside the fact that half of my friends already live her, its a pretty fun active city. i’de prob live a lil on the outskirts (la jolla). could be a fun temporary destination.
  • seattle - wild card city. ive never been but like everything i know about it. active city. lots to do and see. big in the tech industry
  • *international (london or shanghai) - i’ve put my name out there for a few jobs coming up overseas. if given the chance i’ll definitely take one. won’t know more until i get closer to the end of my project (may - june)
